Morning Keynote – Buddy Berry

Dr. Buddy Berry has a passion for reinventing the K-12 school experience. His School on FIRE (Framework of Innovation for Reinventing Education) model is currently in it’s seventh full year of implementation and is seeing dramatic results. Dr. Berry is in his 9th year as Superintendent of Eminence Independent Schools and his team’s success has allowed him to be invited to the White House twice, the first as one of the 100 top school Superintendents in America at their only National Connected Superintendents Summit. Dr. Berry’s work and school district has also been the focus of numerous media and news stories recently released by Edutopia (George Lucas Films) for several upcoming video series. Most importantly, Buddy is married to the amazing Jessica Berry and the father of four, Brooke, Blaze, Bryce, and Brax.

Afternoon Keynote – Jen Giffen

Digital Literacy Resource Teacher in the York Region District School Board in Ontario, Canada. Master’s in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning form the Ontario Institute of Education at The University of Toronto.

Google Innovator (#WDC17), Sketchnoter, teacher match-maker, cheerleader, mother of three boys, and up for just about anything. Co-host of #ShukesandGiff the Podcast, Jen is a believer that you have time to do anything you want – you just need to make time. Former player of the game of school, she now seeks to ensure learning is authentic and relevant, especially for struggling students You can often find her in front of her computer, having a conversation with her Google Home, driving around listening to podcasts and chilling & watching Netflix with her husband (#forreal). Morning Keynote – Brian Housand

Brian Housand is an associate professor and co-coordinator of the Academically and Intellectually Gifted Program at East Carolina University. Brian proudly identifies himself as a GEEK. In 2014, he received the Max Ray Joyner Award for Outstanding Teaching in Distance Education at ECU. Dr. Housand earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut with an emphasis in both gifted education and instructional technology. He currently serves on the NAGC Board of Directors as a Member-at-Large. Brian frequently presents and works as an educational consultant on the integration of technology and enrichment into the curriculum. He is currently researching ways in which technology can enhance the learning environment and is striving to define creative-productive giftedness in a digital age.
